Gastric Endoscopy

Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome (EGUS) occur in up to 2 out of 3 performance horses. Classic clinic signs that may be suggestive of EGUS include but not limited to:

  • Colic – chronic mild colic episodes, a slow eater, soft manure
  • Poor appearance – inappetence, poor body condition, weight loss
  • Behavioral changes – irritability, “cinchy,” refusing basic commands
  • Poor Performance – reluctance to do what you ask, athletics performance decreases

Obtaining diagnostic imaging of the equine stomach and upper small intestinal tract, we are able to put a grade to your horse’s gastric ulcer syndrome. This allows us to fine tune a treatment protocol relative to your horse’s use, feeding regimen, and severity of its gastric ulcer syndrome
